Kathy helping at El Espino

This week Kathy went with me to El Espino to help me give out candy to the kids and the bags of food to the mama's, we had fun, and she was a great help, my little future missionary, gotta love it. I gave her the choice to go and play at the kids home, or go with me to give out the food, and she said, mama, i want to go and help give out the food, makes her mama proud :) I really want to teach them early about giving, and helping others, it's what life is really all about.

We had another missions team come to visit carepoint El Espino, this one was from Mobile, Alabama. They had a big team that was mostly young adults. They did a few dramas, a puppet show, they gave out special gifts to different age groups of children, they also gave out bags of food to about 80 families, they preached and shared the gospel, and then at the end they gave an opportunity to pray for the women and children, and the families that were there that day, they were a true blessing, and everyone seemed to really enjoy them, oh and i forgot to mention they had a clown with them too, his name was Frijolito, which means little bean, he was a hit.

We just want to say a big thank you to you all, it was so great having you here to come and share God's love with the people of El Espino.

First missions team to visit carepoint El Espino

This Thursday we had a team from Mississippi come to visit carepoint El Espino. It was a 17 member team with mostly young adults, and they brought Dr. Larry and nurse Melissa with them. They were a blessing. The team did a VBS, and crafts with all of the children while the Dr. and nurse, with a few volunteers, worked on the medical clinic. The team brought vitamins, different medicines for parasites, general aches and pains, medical creams, lice medicine, and many other items, they were a huge blessing to the community of El Espino, and the surrounding areas. There were at least 73 plus adults, and at least 50, or more children that received medical care, and all of the other fun things that the team brought with them. We also gave out our usual bags of food to the needy families of El Espino. The team did at least 2, or 3 other medical / VBS visits to other communities, and they also put on new roofs at 2 homes here in Zambrano.

Just want to say thank you to the team, and a special thank you to Dr. Larry and nurse Melissa, you all did a wonderful job. God bless you and ALL you do for the Kingdom.

We have a family that comes to the carepoint every week, and i noticed the little boy, about age 3-4 never has on shoes, so last week i decided to bring him a pair of Joey's shoes. It really brakes my heart to see these children walking around these nasty, dirty, streets barefoot, and their feet are so dirty, and beat up, we really don't know how good we have it, at least we have a choice, most of these don't. It just brings me back to that scripture:

Matthew 25:35-36, 40

I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me,
... the King will say, I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these
things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me you did it to me.

I know that i have quoted this scripture lately, but the Lord just keeps bringing me back to it.

Yesterday at carepoint El Espino

I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of our trip to carepoint El Espino, yesterday, we prayed that the rain would stay away, and thanks to prayers, it did. We gave the kids pictures to color, and candy to eat, i'm sure the moms love us for that, and we had one of our helpers share a word about having faith, and trusting the Lord when times are not good, and going the way you want them to, it was encouraging. It was a great day, and we are now up to helping 65 families with food, PTL! God is good!

Starting in March, Ernie and I started a new ministry, it's called a carepoint, and it is in a somewhat remote village, called El Espino, about 15 minutes from Zambrano. I really felt like we should start reaching out to the hurting, hungry people outside of Zambrano. It had been on my heart for a while, and in March the Lord opened the door for us to start. A carepoint is, to sum it up, a great way to show the love of Jesus in practical ways. The carepoint is a feeding center for children 5 days a week, it provides education for those that are too poor to go to school, it has bible clubs to teach the word of God, it's a way to provide basic medical care for the community, and to also bring in medical teams for bigger medical needs, and any other practical ways to help these poor people that are in need. It provides a way to help the people make their situations better. The carepoint also provides clothing, shoes, and any other basic needs as they are provided. We are now just bringing bags of food, once a week, which consist of beans, rice, and corn, to the poorest of the poor in this area. We give out about 50-60 bags a week. We are looking for a piece of property to buy so we can build a building for the carepoint. It seems like things are coming along, and God has been right here with us, it has been pretty effortless for us to get this started, and total peace, and of course that helps remind me that this is a God thing, and it is something that He desires. I will keep you posted on the progress of this carepoint. I am grateful that the Lord is providing the needs to these precious people. Please pray that we are able to find a piece of land, and that God provides the finances to buy it, and that He provides all the needs of the carepoint.

Milk for the kids

We hope and pray that this blog finds you all in good health, happy, and blessed.

We are trying to raise money for milk for the kids here at the Prince of Peace children's home, and for the un-wed teen mothers home. We would like to buy 3 pallets of whole milk, and the cost of one pallet is $900.00. The milk is Borden UHT milk, and our kids love it. We have bought this milk for them in the past and we would like to keep suppling it for them. The milk comes from a company out of Metarie, LA, and we will ship the container out of BTR, LA, leaving the first week of June.

If you would like to contribute towards the purchasing and shipping of the milk for the kids, please send check made out to Light International, P.O. Box 668548, Pompano Beach, FL 33066 and in the memo section put Robyn's nest -milk, and this is a non-profit organization, so therefore it's tax deductible.

Kids Swimming

I decided to buy the kids a baby pool, and well lets just say i am having a hard time getting them out. Last year Joey was terrified of the pool, and did not like it at all, he would even freak out when i pulled the swimsuit out, he knew what that meant, and he would start crying, saying no, no, but thank God this year he is over that fear, but now he does not want to come out, he went from one extreme to the other, oh well right??? I am glad it's warmed up here, but now i am just ready for rainy season, the grass and everything around us is brown, and dry, yuck. I am watering the grass like crazy, and it's not working, i must pray harder for rain. LOL.

David's visit to Zambrano

All of you know who David is and all about him, and it may be crazy that i am doing another blog about him, but he holds a very special place in my heart, and i just want to share that with you, i hope you don't mind. David came to visit his mom, Amber, and some of us here, that played a special role in his life, this past weekend with his grandpa. He is absolutely adorable and it made me realize how much i have missed him, but it was great to see how happy he is and healthy, he is a chunky monkey, precious. That visit brought a lot of joy to all of us. It helps me to remember how blessed i am, and how God keeps blessing me. Even though David is not living with us anymore, i still feel like i am a part of his life, and i am grateful that his grandpa still sends me updates and wants me to be a part of his life, it makes me realize that the things we do for God, are never overlooked. God is so good! I hope you enjoy the pictures, his smile is priceless.

We now have rabbits. I was asked about 2 months ago if i could take a couple of rabbits and put them in a cage in my backyard, and now they are not only running around the yard, and pooping everywhere, they are multiplying, how exciting is that? We have 5 adults, and 5 babies, and more on the way. I love how they are fertilizing my yard. LOL. They are great entertainment for the kids, and for me too. Joey loves to chase after them and hit them on their backside to make them hop, they will spend ours outside chasing them, who needs cable T.V., right? I'll update on the rabbits, soon!

It is official

We are happy to announce that, as of Monday Feb. 16, 2009, we are the proud Substitute Family of Joey. To those that don't know what that means exactly, we are his legal guardians. We signed the paper on Mon. We can now travel with him to the states, if need be, and now since the judge has declared him abandoned, we can immediately start with the adoption process. So that is what we are working on now, and then when that is done we will proceed with Substitute Family status on Kathy. We are very happy, the Lord has been so good, and His favor is amazing. Thanks to all of you that have been praying for this, we love and appreciate you all. We will keep you posted.

Children on outreach

Joey and Kathy had their first outreach experience. Some of you may remember little Marvin, the little boy, with cancer, that was coming to the feedings on Saturday's, well we went to his house to visit him and his family, and i thought it would be cool for Kathy, and Joey to bring their left over Christmas candy to give away. I told them that there were poor children that may not have gotten anything this Christmas, and so i wanted them to share theirs with these kids, and any other kids we came across, of course Kathy was like you want me to do what, but Joey did not seem to mind, as long as i gave him some too! This family lives in a little village, called La Espino, and it's about 15-20 minutes away from here. Marvin is doing good, and the cancer is in remission, Praise God! We plan to go back and visit them soon. Maybe Joey and Kathy will want to bring something else to give away, we'll see. I am trying to teach them the importance of giving, i think it's working, LOL.

Little Joey got a haircut Monday, and it's like pulling teeth trying to cut this boy's hair, on one hand i just want to say forget the haircut's it's not worth it to watch him squirm, and fidget, and then cry on top of that, i will just let his hair grow and he can look like one of the Jonas Brothers, but then i see him with this fresh haircut and he looks adorable, plus he has the softest hair, and i love to rub his head, i love boys with short hair, dilemma, i know. What's a mom to do, the joys of parenting. LOL.

This is David, Amber's baby. I received this picture yesterday from his grandpa. David is living with his grandpa, in the Roatan, and seems to be doing very well. Amber, as of last week, is now back here in Zambrano living at the Missions House. She really felt like she needed to come back. She was in the states for Christmas and then came back with her dad, and David to Roatan, but realized that she is not ready to be in the real world just yet, too many memories. But everyone was in agreement that David has family that loves him, and can take care of him, and so that's were he is. I am thankful to the Lord that He takes care of ALL our needs, and He loves us that much to do so. I will be getting updates on David periodically, and as i get them i'll share them with you all. I do miss that little guy, but i have peace in my heart and i know that he is in the right place, and receiving lots of love and attention, just how it should be.

Christmas in Honduras 08

This year Christmas was, i think the best yet here in Honduras. Maybe because the kids are older, and they enjoyed it more, who knows, i just think it was really nice. We had 3 Christmas outreaches in various places, giving away toys, and food, but last Sat. we had our Christmas with Jesus. This year we decided to do it in the town called San Francisco, instead of at the children's home. There was not as many children, but we still did our usual sack races, cotton candy, toy give away and many other things. We fed around 300 men, women, and children that day. A good time was had by all.

We had a great Christmas with our kids and the girls. I am happy Kathy and Joey are old enough to really enjoy Christmas, i think that's what made it more fun for us. I have waited a really long time in my life to have kids and be able to get into the holiday with them. I remember my mom really made Christmas special for us, and so it is now such a blessing to be able to do the same with our kids, it made my Christmas very special.

Christmas tree decorating

We decorated the Christmas tree with the girls, well let me say they decorated it, i just supervised. They had a good time, but for some reason they wanted to put like a million balls on the tree, and unfortunately at some point it fell over, so we had to start over. Lets just say lesson learned. We are getting ready for Christmas around here. In the ministry we already had one cooking and feeding outreach, and we have a few more scheduled, and then we have our Christmas with Jesus coming up, with all of the games, food, and toys, that day is always fun, and lots of children leave very happy.

Belky's 15th birthday

This past Friday, we celebrated Belky's 15th birthday. Here in Honduras the 15th birthday is a bigger deal than the sweet 16 in the states. We had a party for her with all of our older kids, there was loud music, dancing, well if you want to call it that, a great meal, and then of course the best part, the cake. She had a good time, and was smiling quite a bit, and considering how she was when she first got here, God has brought her a long way. Of course Kathy was a little disappointed that we did not have a pinata, but 15 year olds are too mature for that, that's what the kids told me anyway. LOL.

Ada, Belky, Judith

We have two of our girls that had babies last month, Ada, and Belky. Ada had a boy, his name is Angel, and Belky had a boy also, his name is Christian. The babies are doing great. Eating and getting fatter every day. The moms are a little tired from waking up during the night, but over all they are doing fine. It amazes me that they are 15, and 14 yrs. old and full time mothers, they are doing a wonderful job.

We received Judith back in Oct. with her baby, Andrea. She was taken from her home, and an abusive situation and placed with us. They are both precious.

We have a full house, but it's all good!!
