El Espino Nov. 11, 2010

Last week I went to El Espino to give out about 118 bags of food, and to also give away about 150 tooth brushes that were donated to us by our friend, and dentist, Cheryl Mecca. It had been a while since I had been out there, due to the rainy season, the road was washed out, and I was not able to get there in my car. I was really happy and excited to get back out there, and to see all those familiar faces, i really missed my weekly visits out there, the people are so humble, and greatly appreciative of whatever it is that we give to them. God is so good!

Just want to say a special thank you to Cheryl Mecca, and her staff for their
donation, it is greatly appreciated. May God richly bless you all!

Matthew 25:35-36, 40

I was hungry and you fed me,
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a room,
I was shivering and you gave me clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me,
... the King will say, I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these
things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me you did it to me.

Video of Jonathan walking

Update on Jonathan

Just wanted to give a quick update on Jonathan. Since his surgery he has been doing amazingly well, he seems happier, more alert, he is talking more, interacting with the babies more, and this week he started walking on his own, amazing! Every week he improves, more and more, God is so good and faithful!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers, and financial donations, it is greatly appreciated!

Luke 6:38

Team from Celebration Church, Georgetown, Texas

Last week we had the pleasure of having a team here from Celebration Church, from Texas, here with us for one week. The team consisted of 6 people, 3 girls and 3 guys, and were brought here by our nephew, Ross Breaux. These guys are all interns out of Celebration Church. They came here to help build a home for a family whose house, because of the heavy rains, was falling apart, and coming down. They started on the house, but unfortunately because of the constant rain, they were not able to finish, but we have some local workers here in Zambrano that are finishing the house.

We celebrated Ross's 24th birthday while he was here, we had pizza, cake, and a great time with much laughter, what more could you ask for. God is good!

They also went with me on Thursday to El Espino to give out bags of food, and to share a few stories with the kids. They also passed out candy, they were a big hit, lots of laughs by all. We also had a Pastor from Alabama, Mitch Love with us, and he shared an encouraging word with the adults, and then prayed for those that wanted prayer afterwards. Thank you pastor for being a part of what is going on here in El Espino, and sharing what was on your heart, and also for the food items we gave away. Your welcome to come back and join us anytime! Also a big thanks to Pastor Luis Sorto, and his wife, Mayra, and daughter Carolina, and son Danny, for hosting this team, thanks for all you do for the Kingdom!

I just want to say a big thank you to the team for coming and wanting to be a part of reaching out to these poor, and hurting people in Honduras, you all were a blessing.

Jonathan's surgery

Jonathan, Lucita's baby, has just been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which most people recognize this as, water on the brain, but the true definition is : A usually congenital condition in which an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the cerebral ventricles causes enlargement of the skull and compression of the brain, destroying much of the neural tissue. He is in need of an operation. The Dr. said it's best he get the operation before he is 2, which will be in July.

Just to remind you about Jonathan, Lucita, his mom, came to the ministry, pregnant, at 10 yrs. old. She was a victim of sexual abuse by her step dad. She was taken out of the home and placed with us so she could receive the proper prenatal care that she needed. Now, Luz, 12, and Jonathan, almost 2 in July, are living at the house for abused girls, and their babies. Luz is going to school, and doing well, she is a happy, healthy, 12 yr. old girl.

Jonathan needs the surgery to help relieve the pressure on his brain, this is a procedure where they go in with the placement of a permanent ventricular shunt. It's a very common procedure, and will require one overnight stay at the hospital, and with proper care at home, and possibly little rehabilitation may be required to further his improvement, he should be good as new in no time.

We have found a neurosurgeon, who is involved with a local ministry that does these operations for children, like Jonathan, who was recommended to us and he has agreed to do the surgery, we are working on the hospital, which will be a private hospital, getting everything squared away, we are now just waiting on the date when the surgery can be done. The cost of the surgery, and the hospital stay will be around $2000.00.

If anyone would like to help give a donation towards this cause please give to:

Thank you, and God bless you all,

Kathy

My Kathy started kinder yesterday, wow i cannot believe that she is 5, and in school! I did so good, i wanted to cry so bad watching her get on the bus with the kids from casa ninos, and wave bye to me with excitement on her way to school. It was a little tough, but i pulled through, lol! She is so grown up, 5 going on about 15.

We have been working with a social worker to get substitute family of her, like we have of Joey, and we are hoping to have this done within the next month, or so, nothing goes quick here, but i am believing that this task can be done soon. Please pray that we have favor, like we did with Joey, for the judge to give us substitute family of her. With this we will be able to get her a vista and travel with her, and also we will be able to start the adoption process. For those of you that don´t know what substitute family is, it´s like foster parents, we are her guardians.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, take care and God bless you all.

Lots of babies

Last night Ernie and I had the opportunity to babysit ALL 7 babies, while the girls from the unwed moms home went to a birthday party, we are brave, LOL! We had a good time. They all got along pretty good, there were a few fights that broke out over toys, but over all it turned out well. All I can say is thank God for Elmo, he saved the night :)

I know it has been a while since i have blogged, but just for a quick update, we are still going to El Espino every week, giving out bags of food to a little over 80 families. We are looking for a piece of property to buy there, and once we do that we want to build a building to open up a carepoint, so please pray that we find the right property, and that we can get the help that we need to get that going, thank you, take care and God bless you all.
